The Viru-Nigula wind farm was completed in 2007. The first wind turbine was connected with the power grid in March 2007.
There are seven Windwind WWD-3 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3 MW, in the Viru-Nigula wind farm. Full capacity of the wind farm is 21 MW and yearly production 45 GWh.
The electric turbines are produced by a Finnish company Winwind Oy. The height of the mast of the wind turbine is 90 meters, rotor diameter 100 meters. Weight of the wind turbine is 1026 tons. The expected life-span of the wind turbines is 20 years.
Total investment of the Viru-Nigula wind farm is EUR 26.1 million.
