2015 was a record wind energy year for Nelja Energia13.01.2016

Renewable energy producer Nelja Energia in 2015 produced a record amount – approximately 569 gigawatt-hours (GWh) – of electricity in its fifteen wind parks, which is 15% more than a year before and accounts for about 2.2% of the total electricity consumption in all Baltic countries. This ensures the company its leading position among the other wind power producers in both Estonia and the Baltic States. Nelja Energia owns two biogas plants where energy production also increased in 2015, reaching a total of electricity 16 GWh and heat 4.3 GWh.

Nelja Energia in 2015 produced 585 GWh of renewable energy, of which 62% in Estonia and 38% in Lithuania. The best wind months were January and December, when Nelja Energia's wind turbines produced more than a quarter of the total annual quantity.

Martin Kruus, the Chairman of the Board of Nelja Energia said that the production of wind turbines increased, but during the same time the price of electricity decreased. "According to Nord Pool electricity market the average price of electricity in 2015 was 31.08 euros/MWh, which is 17% less than in 2014. Such a price drop is a negative surprise to energy producers, but it certainly is good news for consumers,"says Kruus.

Nelja Energia is currently building a renewable energy project in each Baltic country – in Lithuania 60 MW Šilute wind park with a total investment of 120 million euros, in Latvia the cogeneration plant and the pellet factory with a total investment of 30 million euros and in Estonia Tooma wind warm 7.05 MW expansion with a total investment of 11.5 million euros.

Nelja Energia is based on Nordic and Estonian capital and it is the largest wind energy producer and developer in the Baltic States - 220 MW as the total capacity of operating wind farms. Company's assets are worth more than 400 million euros.
