The Viru-Nigula wind farm was completed in 2007. The first wind turbine was connected with the power grid in March 2007.
There are eight Windwind WWD-3 D100/HH90 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3 MW, in the Viru-Nigula wind farm. Full capacity of the wind farm is 24 MW and the yearly production of electricity is approximately 64.4 GWh.
The electric turbines are produced by a Finnish company Winwind Oy. The height of the mast of the wind turbine is 90 m, rotor diameter 97 m. Weight of the wind turbine is 305 tons. The expected life-span of the wind turbines is 20 years.
Total investment of the Viru-Nigula wind farm is EUR 26.1 million.
The Viru-Nigula wind farm is located in Lääne-Viru County, Viru-Nigula Parish, Tüükri Village. The wind park is located 6 km from the coastline of the Finnish Gulf on an exposed and high plateau, 60 m above sea level. The wind farm comprises an area of 195.1 hectares.
