The Virtsu I wind farm was completed in 2002. The first wind turbine was connected with the power grid in October 2002. Full capacity was achieved in the same month.
There are two Enercon E-40 type wind turbines, each with a capacity of 0.6 MW, in the Virtsu I wind farm. Full capacity of the wind farm is 1.2 MW and the yearly production of electricity is 3.4 GWh.
The electric turbines are produced by a German company Enercon GmbH. The height of the mast of the wind turbine is 63 m, rotor diameter 44 m. Weight of the wind turbine is 117 tons. The expected life-span of the wind turbines is 20 years.
Total investment of the Virtsu I wind farm is EUR 1.2 million.
The Virtsu I wind farm is located in Lääne County, Hanila Parish, Virtsu Village. The wind farm comprises an area of 6.3 hectares.
